Happy New Year – Top 8 of ’08

Top 8 of ’08

I had some difficulty coming up with a good list, largely because I like all kinds of things (dachshunds, murder mysteries, Audi SL6′s, hickory-smoked barbecue…), but not necessarily eight of any of them. On the other hand, I do like to eat. And cook.

So here’s a list of my favorite eight recipes. As time allows over the next couple of weeks, I’ll actually post said recipes, but for now—I spent eight hours today driving to and from Indio, CA, to pick up my new dachshund puppy (name still up for grabs, though it might be Homer), and am consequently about to head for bed.

  1. Hi everyone – this is about the blue-eyed dachshunds. My parents bred their red with a black and tan dapple that had half a blue eye – very strange to look at (the bottom half was blue and the top half was brown). Out of one litter, one of the pups had a completely blue eye. Of course, that’s the dog my sister-in-law fell in love with, and her name is Chloe. The blue eyes are a trait in dapples, and aren’t genetically desirable. The next litter had no blue-eyed pups, but one was long haried (both parents are short haired). I lept her and her name is Gretchen. Sorry for rambling, but I love these dogs!!

I just read your enchilada recipe and it sounds really good. I live in Texas, so I can get some pretty good Mexican food, but I haven’t tried making enchiladas yet. I have managed tamales, and that was a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. It’s a process! lol

  2. Hey this is kinda of off topic but I was wondering if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if
you have to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding experience so I wanted to get advice from someone with experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    • Dear Car–

This one pretty much uses HTML, but has shortcut tabs that insert coding for you. I imagine they vary, though–I think the Blogger and LiveJournal ones use WYSIWYG.
