THE FIERY CROSS UNABRIDGED AUDIOBOOK

THE FIERY CROSS UNABRIDGED AUDIOBOOK –

OK, I talked to my agent (who talked to Recorded Books–who made and owns the Unabridged audiobook). The license for the ABRIDGED recording has now expired, which means that Recorded Books _can_ go ahead and sell the recording through Audible.com and other retail outlets. However, they couldn’t do a contract with Audible.com for this _until_ the other license expired–which it did, yesterday. So they’ll do the contract as quickly as they can, and as soon as that’s done, THE FIERY CROSS will be on Audible “within a matter of hours,” they said.

SO–you’ll get it pretty darn quick, I hope–but that’s all I know about it.

  1. Yippee!!! Worth the wait!

  2. Thanks for the persistence! I’ve been waiting for the Fiery Cross to be part of the Audible collection. As soon as it’s available, I will download and listen to it

  3. Yeah!!! That is such good news. These are such fantastic stories and the production is of equal quality. Although I would like to give a warning that it not a good idea to listen to sad parts of the story in the car on the way to work and go straight into a meeting. I did that recently listening to An Echo in the Bone when Rollo got shot and it made for very concerned coworkers and quite a complicated explanation!

  4. I know this news will make lots of people very happy!!!!!!! So far, I’ve only got Outlander on audio, but I hope to add the other books to my collection very soon. Listening to audiobooks is the only way to make housework palatable! :)

  5. THANKS for the good news !!!!

  6. This is good news! I have been waiting for almost two YEARS to listen to the unabridged version of The Fiery Cross. I almost quit Audible altogether because when I joined it was primarily to download the Outlander series. I was so disappointed that after listening to and loving the first books I then ran into a wall when The Fiery Cross was not available except in the abridged version, which I adamantly refused to waste a credit on.

Coincidentally, I didn’t read this website until today what the availability issues were, so I’m so glad that the abridged contract has now expired and the unabridged version will soon be available on audible.

By the way, I howled in laughter at the author’s take on abridgements – being the equivalent to a sculpture of ground meat scavenged from the floor after butchering. Her humor on this once again showed me why she is one of my favorite authors!!

    I’m a delighted fan!

  7. I have been saving my credit at Audible.com just for this. It is the last one I need to have the whole series so far!! I am so excited. I will be downloading the minute it is available!!

  8. It’s at Audible.com right now – woo hoo!!

  9. FANTASTIC!!!!!!!! Just one more to go, right?

    • Melinda –

I saw all 7 unabridged Outlander books at audible.com. Did you mean something else?

    • Fiery Cross was made available in unabridged format today. :)

      • I am so glad to hear this. I have been listening my way back through the books – some for the 2nd and 3rd time – and was so disappointed when I realized that I could not get Fiery Cross except in the abridged format. I am half-way through the abridged, but will buy the other tonight!!. Thanks for the heads up!.

By the way, I love the books. Jamie and Claire. Rodger and Bree, Ian and ….. I can’t wait for 2013 and your next one. Just promise it won’t be the last.

      • Not in Australia?

  10. Most excellent news!

  11. Tremendous!

I have already read the book, and would love to hear it. I have listened to most of your books, and now am on “A Breath Of Snow And Ashes.” Can you tell me the next books you have written after this one? I love your style and unfolding of the characters. I can see how they change with time. Thank you.

    Donald Holland

    • Dear Donald–

Thanks! Next after A BREATH OF SNOW AND ASHES is AN ECHO IN THE BONE. I’m currently writing the eighth book–WRITTEN IN MY OWN HEART’S BLOOD. There are also several “Lord John” books in print–these are _part_ of the series, but are focused and structured differently–they’re more or less structured like historical mysteries, and focused more on those parts of Lord John’s life when he’s not onstage in the main series (and thus also refers to parts of the other characters’ lives during those periods). The very next book out, though, is THE SCOTTISH PRISONER. This comes out on November 29th (!), and is an adventure/crime/historical novel set in 1760, with a shifting viewpoint that passes back and forth between Jamie Fraser and Lord John. It’s cleverly designed so as to be able to be read alone, without having read anything else, so you might want to pick that up to enjoy between now and whenever I finish WIMOHB (aka “Moby” — My Own Heart’s Blood = MOHB = MOH-B = “Moby,” geddit? ).

  12. Still not available at audible.co.uk. Hope that will be fixed soon

    • Dear Wendy and other UK/Aussie/Kiwi readers–

I’ll ask the Recorded Books people what kind of deal–if any–they have with UK retail outlets for audiobooks.

      –Diana

      • Thank you – that would be GREAT :)))) audible.com says this;
We’re sorry. Due to publishing rights restrictions, we are not authorized to sell this item in the country where you live.

        I am in Australia.

  13. Yay! I can have my own version instead of renting the library’s! (Twice!)

  14. Do you know if it will be available on Itunes? Because that’s how I have been downloading them.

  15. I just found it on Itunes too!!! For those who want to know. Thanks Diana for many hours of enjoyment while I deliver the US Mail.

  16. And so glad to see Davina narrating it. She perfectly captures Claire’s voice in my mind.

  17. Hi…Im so excited the The Fiery Cross is now available. I was all ready to download it from audible.com but it told me that due to restrictions, I could not download it cause of the country I come from (Australia), I also tried from itunes but it doesnt come up at all (still has abridged version only).

    Any one have any answers??

    Thx

  18. Now if I could only find The Fiery Cross (unabridged) on cd, not download!

  19. Hi Diana. Off topic I know, but I’ve been searching the blog archives trying to find some of the wonderful recipes you shared with us in 2008. Seems they are no longer available to view on the newer blog. Would you mind reposting them?

I was hoping to find the fruit stuffed turkey recipe.. and I also recall 2 wonderful leftover turkey sandwiches.. gorgonzola cheese and pear was one I think?

    Happy Thanksgiving !

Can’t wait for the Scottish Prisoner !
