Best Wishes… and Sad News

Diana's dogs napping on a pillow. My best wishes for a good New Year to everybody.

I’m sorry that I have to begin the year myself with bad news; my lovely dog JJ died this afternoon (complications from a freak accident he suffered two weeks ago) and we buried him next to my garden, where he loved to hunt rabbits and toads with his brother, Homer.

Homer is bereft and so are we.

  1. I too have a JJ named Duke. Remember! All dogs go to Heaven.

  2. I’m so sorry to hear about JJ. I think you should get another dog soon for Homer’s sake, he is going to be so lost and confused.
I’m a big fan of both books and series.
When life happens and I’m depressed, I can forget my troubles and escape to visit Claire and Jamie.
    Thank you!

  3. I know I’m late but I’m so sorry to hear of your untimely loss. We lost our 16 year old lab mix, Shenandoah, last year after a long illness. She was struggling upstairs, was in almost constant discomfort and had lost most of her sight and hearing. We were fortunately to have our vet come to the house to end her suffering. My three grown children were able to come so we could all be with her at the end. We buried her in the back yard next to her best friend, Oriole, the cat who taught her has a pup how to pack hunt rabbits. I hope Homer gets a new friend soon.

  4. Dear Diana
Our fur babies are in our lives for such a short time but bring us a life time of joy and memories.
    My condolences

  5. Oh dear…I am sorry to be late with heartfelt condolences for the loss of J.J., your dear dog that looked to be quite a gentleman of the Standard Dachshunds. Prayers to you and your family and for your other dear dog, Homer. May he, when ready acquire another comrade to lay in the sun and pal around with.

Again, thank you for giving of your talent, time and creating The Outlander subculture for all of us.

  6. Dear Diana,

I am saddened to learn of the passing of your JJ boy. We have two crazy Cocker Spaniels, but a neighbor has three Dachshunds and we love them as well. She is usually out walking them around the time I drive past to my house after spending the day at the office, and they become excited when they hear me shout YAY wiener dogs! from the car window. I will go over and give them extra pats and treats in memory of JJ, and in honor of Homer.

I hope 2019 improves greatly and gives you something to BEES happy about!

    Karen

  7. So sorry on the loss of your fur baby. I hope Homer is doing better. I also have 2 brothers, but mine are lab doxies. They are so close I know what you and poor Homer are feeling.

  8. I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved dog. They leave pawprints on your heart. Their time with us is short, but their love and gifts to us are without measure. May time ease your grief and I hope you get another loving friend for Homer.

  9. My heart goes out to you ! It’s SO very hard to lose them !
