2019-08-29-LeoI’m sorry to be a bit behind-hand with things, but we had a Rather Important Distraction yesterday…

Meet our new grandson, Leo!

NYCC and Season Five of the Starz Outlander TV Series

Well….a nice bit of news…

If you have nothing better to do, why not join us on February 16th (2020) for… the premiere of OUTLANDER, SEASON FIVE!!!

(And in the meantime, OUTLANDER will definitely have a “presence” at New York Comic Con (NYCC), with a panel (featuring Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe, Duncan LaCroix, Maria Doyle Kennedy, David Berry… and, um… me. On Saturday, October 5th!)

nycc-logoUnfortunately, tickets to NYCC are already sold out for Saturday, but NYCC does have a system where you can buy tickets from individuals who find out they can’t come. BEWARE, do NOT buy tickets to NYCC from other individuals online! They are not transferable from one person to another except through NYCC. About “Outlander” Season Five

Season Five of “Outlander” finds the Frasers fighting for their family and the home they have forged on Fraser’s Ridge.

Jamie must find a way to defend all that he has created in America, and to protect those who look to him for leadership and protection—while hiding his personal relationship with Murtagh Fitzgibbons, the man whom Governor William Tryon has ordered him to hunt down and kill.

With her family together at last, Claire Fraser must use her modern medical knowledge and foresight to prevent them from being ripped apart once again. However, while focusing on protecting others, she risks losing sight of what it means to protect herself. Meanwhile, Brianna Fraser and Roger MacKenzie have been reunited, but the spectre of Stephen Bonnet still haunts them. Roger strives to find his place—as well as Jamie’s respect—in this new and dangerous time. The Frasers must come together, navigating the many perils that they foresee—and those they can’t.

Season Five of “Outlander” is currently in production in Scotland. The fifth season will play out over 12 episodes and is based on material from Diana Gabaldon’s international best-selling Outlander series.

The “Outlander” television series, executive produced by Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, Matthew B. Roberts, Toni Graphia and Andy Harries, is inspired by Gabaldon’s Outlander series that has sold an estimated 30 million copies worldwide, with all the books having graced the New York Times best-sellers list. The “Outlander” television series has become a worldwide success with audiences, spanning the genres of history, science fiction, romance and adventure in one amazing tale.

“Outlander” is produced by Tall Ship Productions and Left Bank Pictures in association with Sony Pictures Television.

Starz recently renewed the “Outlander” series through its sixth and forthcoming season.

  1. Diana…you mentioned the 9th book would be published and for sale in 2019. So far, no book. When will it be for sale?

    • Hi, Ellen,

Gosh, didn’t you notice that Diana announced a new grandson (!), and she announced both the premiere date for Season 5 and a NYCC panel featuring her and stars from the show? :-)

Diana hasn’t announced a specific “published and for sale” date for GO TELL THE BEES THAT I AM GONE, Book Nine, because she hasn’t finished writing it yet.

Diana hopes to finish writing and doing the historical and other research for BEEES by the end of 2019. Then she will send it to her publishers.

Diana’s publishers will then decide upon the publication date in the U.S. and other countries, likely in 2020. Once the publication date is known, Diana will post the information here on her official website as well as on her official facebook and twitter pages.

You can always get her latest updates on the book on her official BEES webpage:

      http://www.dianagabaldon.com/books/outlander-series/book-nine-outlander-series/

And you can read all of the Daily Lines (excerpts) she has released from the book so far (more than fifty of them).

Like all her wonderful books, BEES will be worth the wait! And then we can look forward to Book Ten (no title for that one yet).

      Cheers,
      Loretta

    • Ellen I understand your frustration. They keep saying 3 to 4 years and how long and intricate each book is. And that is a fact. But it has been 5 years now since book 8. The web mistress should not have made you feel guilty for asking a simple question.

We many of us are her original fans. Outlander was published 1991, Dragonfly in Amber 1992, Voyager 1994 and Drums of Autum 1997. They were all large intricate books. To finish I have to say thank you Diana for your wonderful talent. We all are just waiting and appreciate you books. Thank You. PS My older sister introduced me to Outlander and I was hoping she would get a chance to read your new book, but she died of cancer in June.

  2. I have so enjoyed reading your extensive vocabulary. It has spoiled me from reading other books. Thank you for sharing your marvelous talent.
    Claudia B. P.

  3. Thank you for the update and congratulations on the new member of your family!

  4. Congratulations on your precious new grandson, Leo! Every time I look at him, I just melt he is so adorable!
You are so blessed and so is Leo to have a world renowned author for his Grandma! Perhaps one day my children will read amazing books by Leo like I have read by you. Again, congratulations to you and your family!

  5. Congratulations! Leo is beautiful! Your family is very blessed.

  6. Congratulations to parents and grandparents of this beautifull boy

  7. Why tease us with a 2019 date and not have the book published. This is crazy. We have waited so long.

I wish I knew. I am not counting on it coming out this year . probably 2020 if them

That is true but done give us a 2019 then not have the book published then. That is not right.

  8. Congrats being a grandma again! I am grandma too my grandson Ozzy was born on August 2nd. I did tell my daughter why not to name him “ Leo “ but she prefers Ozzy. I m surprised that you got yours named Leo! All the best wishes to you! Keep writing and don’t worry about others who can’t wait! I can wait. I rather that you take time to write well. Enjoy your life and new grandson!

  9. Diana,
Congratulation on Leo, your newest family member! What a wonderful joy, needed distraction, inspiration and life affirming event…granny! Enjoy this special time and the blessing of Leo in your lives. He will grow too fast.

Looking forward to book 9 “Go Tell The Bees I am Gone”, I know it will be another well written BDB. Thank you for the many hours of joy that the first eight books have brought. They have been read at least twice and listened too than many times too. My husband has declared that you are one of the best writers he as every read. And, he is very well read.

Thanks so much for your wit, cynicism, humor and grace with words.
    Best,
    Nonie

  10. Hi Diana,

Congratulations on the birth of your new grandson. He looks adorable.
I hope he brings you joy and inspiration!

Looking forward to reading new material from you.

    Greetings,

    Marleen

  11. Diana, I need to get this off my chest. I read the small print message from actors complaining about fans being too involved and being annoying, etc. I understand and I haven’t been guilty of such actions. I love the books, series, and actors but they brought this on themselves. the site was bombarded with Cait and Sam’s actions off the set. The hugging, kissing and keeping their hands on each other, even touching their feet at interviews and at events made people believe they were really in love. Fans loved it. All that came crashing down with recent events. Again, they brought it on themselves. Best wishes and thank you.–Carolyn

Gracias.

  13. Hi Diana,
Do you know when the Starz tie-in book cover will be released for The Fiery Cross?
    Thank you,
    chanel

  14. Good Day Ma’am,
I am a big fan of the series. But I will be brief as I don’t wish to waste your time. Since you have done an excellent job in bringing to life the ’45 and what followed, I was wondering if you would ever consider telling the story and bringing to life the plight of the similarly displaced Acadians, ancestors of the Cajuns, who were displaced shortly after the Highland Clearances in what history calls the Great Upheaval. The person I would be most interested in focusing in on is Beausoleil aka Joseph Broussard. When I think of the Jacobite leaders you brought to life, I think of Beausoleil, who’s story has never been told, but I think there’s much potential there; ultimately turning into a Moses-like figure to a promised land. His story is more American and I think no one could do a better job in telling this 18th- Century American tale.

    • Hi,

Oh, I have enough on my plate to write about for years to come, finishing BEES (Book 9 of the Outlander series), and then Book Ten.

Maybe you should write the story and history that you are suggesting? Just a thought… <g>

      Thanks,
      Diana
