It’s a great summer for readers who love the OUTLANDER series of books.
June 10 – A New Major OUTLANDER Novel!
On June 10, the eighth major novel in the Outlander series was released in the U.S.A. and Canada, titled WRITTEN IN MY OWN HEART’S BLOOD. Diana’s short nickname for the new book is “MOBY.” (About the nickname.) Millions of readers have been anxiously awaiting this book which continues the story of Claire and Jamie, introduced in 1990 when the first book, OUTLANDER, was published.
Diana’s Book Tour for MOBY
On the day the new novel debuted, Diana was the honored guest at a MOBY book release party at the Biltmore Hotel in Phoenix, Arizona, hosted by the Poisoned Pen bookstore. At right, Diana signs thousands of copies of MOBY at the Poisoned Pen for the June 10 event. Photo courtesy of Barbara Peters.
Phoenix isn’t the only event that will feature Diana and her new novel. A New Outlander TV Series!
Image at right: The new OUTLANDER TV series was featured in TV Guides’ Summer Preview, June 2-15 edition.
The man behind the new Starz Outlander series is Executive Producer Ronald Moore, who is best known for his reboot of Battlestar Galactica, as well as many other TV series. With his company, Tall Ship Productions, Moore has promised to remain true to Diana’s books. The series will most likely continue beyond the first year if ratings are good. Visit Diana’s TV series news page for selected media stories about the series. Or visit the Starz Outlander home page.
If the previews are a good indication, the series will be fantastic. Authenticity is very important to Moore and the crew in production. All of the fabulous actors chosen are from the U.K., and the series is being filmed on location in Scotland!
For those living outside the U.S.A., the distributor (Sony) is working to sell the rights to broadcasters all over the globe. It may take up to a year for the series to be translated to languages other than English. And, the series should be available eventually in most markets on DVD, Blu-Ray, etc., but the dates have not been announced as yet. (No, Diana doesn’t do any of that…) Information will be posted on these pages as it is given to Diana.
So buckle your seat belts… this is going to be a great summer for all of us who love Diana’s Outlander universe!
