“There She Is!”
This month was a big one for those awaiting the new Outlander TV series… the “Claire Watch” was ended! After an intensive search, actress Catriona Balfe was selected to portray Claire Beauchamp Randall Fraser, the main female character in the Outlander series of books. Diana was extremely pleased! And other news as production spins up on the new Outlander TV Series:
- Hollywood Pics Pack UK Soundstages As Space Crunch Starts to Squeeze, by Nancy Tartaglione, International Editor, Deadline Hollywood. The new Outlander TV series is one of many films and projects that are causing a huge space crunch at the U.K.’s Pinewood studios, including the new Star Wars movie, which begins filming in 2014, and a Harry Potter spin-off, among many others. Released on Monday, September 30, 2013.
- Young Actor Cast as “Wee Hamish!” The Starz network’s producers have found their young Scottish warrior! Roderick Gilkison, an 11-year-old Scottish actor (shown in the image at right) has been selected to portray Hamish MacKenzie, the spirited heir in the Sony Pictures TV production of Outlander. Released on September 16, 2013
- The “Claire Watch” is Over! Diana announced on her Official Facebook Page: “Am ABSOLUTELY THRILLED to announce that We. Have. Claire!!! Claire will be played by the truly lovely and wonderful— yes, I saw her audition videos with Sam (they were _great_!)— Caitriona Balfe.”
Also in an article by deadline.com, Diana said, “Hard to believe lightning can strike twice, but it surely did. The moment Caitriona Balfe came on screen, I sat up straight and said, ‘There she is!’ She [Balfe] and Sam Heughan [who will play Jamie Fraser] absolutely lit up the screen with fireworks.” Posted on September 11, 2013
