Global Licensing Information

Why isn’t there a master list somewhere, showing where you can access the Outlander TV series in any format, from any country? Apparently it’s because creating and distributing a TV series is very complicated.

Diana has said: “Once made and ready to be released, Sony International owns and manages the rights to the Outlander TV series. Starz is producing it (i.e., actually making the show) and in return gets the exclusive right to show it on their network—but only in the U.S.A. Sony then makes deals (obviously as many as they can) with distributors and networks in other geographical territories, one by one. This takes time.” (Remember, there are 196 countries on Earth!)

Sony owns the licensing rights to broadcasting and distributing the episodes in any format, including on cable, satellite and broadcast channels; streaming services; on DVDs or Blu-Ray discs; and from download sites. Sony determines when the the show is released in each format, whether in the U.S.A. or any other country. This includes audio versions, special versions for the visually impaired, translations to languages other than English, etc.

Will There Be A Third Season?
