  1. By the time you see this Diana, it will be the “coldest day of the year!” OR perhaps during the extended celebration _required_ by said day falling on the weekend! (wink wink)

This week has had me searching through past blog entries for a recipe i could not recall and thus re-reading, much to my enjoyment, your generous, witty and gracious sharing of SO much more than just your books, (THANK YOU!) I only remembered the recipe was shared shortly following the holidays AND that you had mentioned “eating it all yourself.” That’s permission for me, right? Heeheehee…especially when it sounded so yummy, THAT I remember.

In my looking, I first found your Enchilada recipe referenced above (01/13/09)…WOOHOO! (I’ll take mine cheese, or perhaps seafood.) In the comments following was mention of “The Tenth Gift” by J. Johnson. Made me smile…another history lesson with clothes on, made me feel I was there. Mmmmmmm…reminds me of another…..

After enormous enjoyment reading through many posts…(11/04/13 “Casting Commentary” with _387_comments following was STELLAR!) I FOUND IT !!! (01/09/17 “My Addictive Birthday Dish”) Garlic Pinenut Chicken…but YOU already knew, haha! Was REALLY good I found it or would have had to beg mercy and hope you responded using up precious time while you are locked away, so diligently working on “Bees.” (Ok, don’t get me started about the impatient hordes.) Am planning to enjoy the making AND eating of this much anticipated dish you provided such detailed instructions with. But you do that with every recipe you give…sort of like the details that elevate your writing above excellent. Yes…you were right. (You were ready good to begin with,) but each time another book is released, it_just_keeps_getting_better_!!! (With practice you said…hahaha. I have no words…)

When you want, please reply to a couple questions…
    1. Knowing you are a voracious reader, do you prefer hardcopy or E-books?
    2. Do you have a “book room” or library of “keepers? (Picture?)
    3. (I know, this is more than a couple.) HOW do you put up with us on SM taking time from your writing the book we can’t wait for?

Thanks for the you you started becoming this coldest day of the year, and we only know such a limited part! …joyce

P.S. Ordered Cheryl Reavis’ s “The Prisoner” per your recommendation 03/10/16 “Two Covers” post. ABSOLUTELY loved YOUR cover for the giveaway edition…well done!

P.P.S.S. Wish we would all spend a bit of time mining for the gold available in the archives here on your blog…SO many posts that showcase your fabulous writing, (even after this Outlander story is done, I will anticipate your next release!) BTW, did I wish you the BEST birthday celebration ever? I do…

  2. Christmas blessings and best wishes for 2020, Diana!

I’m late to this game, but I do love our buche de noel-yule log cake- that we make each year. This year, my 10 year old daughter crafted the meringue mushrooms with which to decorate the cake, all but herself. Another family favorite is a special roast we cut from the beef we butcher here at home.

Hands down, my seven children’s favorite gift is an ice cream maker. I feel like I have moved into modern times and they are maybe okay after all, haha. We can make soft serve frozen yogurt in just 20 minutes! It’s a life changer for sure. We have our own milk cow, so there’s always plenty of dairy products to play with.

    Love, Emily

  3. After reading this, I bought myself a pair of onion goggles! I love them! I ordered two more for family members. No more tears. Thank you!

  4. Diana,
Please do not hurry your writing, you do it perfectly just naturally. And I’ll read everything when it’s ready. I have no doubt we’ll all love it and fret and argue over it for years to come and have a blast doing so. And to everyone trying to hurry you along–back off and let the woman spin her magic. Guarantee it will be worth every minute of waiting.
    We love you, Diana.

  5. Hello Diana,

I want to tell you about my favorite Christmas gift but first let me say that your books came to me at a time when I very badly needed to escape life and tuck into a good book(s). I even found myself laying my hands on an old oak tree with the hopes that it would take me away like the stones do in your books. Thank you for your books, they saved me.

The death of my Father was a crushing blow to me. Even now, after 8 years I still can’t believe I am able to go on without him. The first Christmas after he died my sister gave me a quilt she made from my Dads old flannel shirts. It was like getting part of my Dad back again. I use that quilt or touch it everyday. It is by far the best gift I have ever gotten.

    Your biggest fan,

    Rana

  6. Hello:

Awaiting the release of Book 10 as is everyone and thank you for continuing the series. I shall be sad when the end has come for Jamie and Claire. My job takes me on the road often and the miles just slip away because of your
books on Audible and I have come to love the story-telling of Davina Porter. She brings such life to the books. My fingers are crossed that she will be chosen and will be available for the books to come.
As another has mentioned, I would love to hear the Lord John Grey series by Davina Porter as well. During a shopping spree on Audible, I purchased the entire Lord John series. Sadly, I cannot bear to listen to them. I do not hear Lord John’s voice at all. Lesson learned. Listen to the samples and purchase just one at a time :) I am reading them but would enjoy the Audible versions during my long road trips and on long hiking days.
My deepest appreciation for the honesty in your books. It’s such a relief for them not to be overly politically correct or politically motivated and I very much respect that. It’s a breath of fresh air!
    Blessings to you and yours,
    PM

  7. Dear Diana,
I am a newcomer to Outlander and have been reading, and watching, with great enjoyment. I was brought up on
D.K. Broster’s Jacobite trilogy and later discovered her French Royalist novels set some fifty years later. Your work reminds me vividly of the world she created but with a contemporary sensibility. I wonder if you have a view on her work?

  8. I started reading the Outlander series on my Kindle and Like them so much better than the TV series. Just an FYI-at the end of season 5 book series William has gotten a broken nose and is bleeding down the back of his throat. Well- back then it may have been common to have someone with a nose bleed to tilt their head back but nowdays its common knowledge to have the person did their heads forward. I had a related family member who developed a nosebleed and they had him tilt his head backwards. BUT-this allows the blood to go into the stomach)which then follows that blood does NOT go in the stomach). If someones tilts their head backwards the stomach then becomes nausated & throws it up which then means increased chances of aspirating the blood into the lungs thereby drowning them. The relative died from this. Just thought I would let you know so this erroneous notion doesn’t get passed on to more people. Keep up the good work. Can’t wait for the next that book to comes out. That would be book nine. I have gone back & reread the series and found things I had missed in the first read. I am what you call a speed reader.

  9. Hey Diana, I first found your books by accident in 1998 in Germany, I was looking for something in English to read as my head would get so tired from the exhaustion of hearing and reading in a foreign language all day. I picked up your book initially because of the title, “Cross Stitch”, because I love needlework in all kinds of forms. That was the start of an addiction. I always wished they would make the book into a film (but the series is so much better than a short film) and I ran out to find the sequels. (The internet wasn’t then what it is now!).
