BEES (Book 9) Publication Date!

Social Media Hashtags: #DailyLines, #GoTELLTheBEESThatIAmGONE, #YESYESYESYESYES!!!!, #WeHaveAPubDate, #And #It #Is… #NOVEMBER23rd #2021 #AndYesThisYear #YesInTimeForChristmas! #Hooray!!!

2021-04-15-BEES-PRH-US-coverFor those cavalier souls who don’t read hashtags—Penguin Random House has decided on a publications date for GO TELL THE BEES THAT I AM GONE. (That’s it, right there in the Social Media Hashtags banner overhead.)

The book will be released on November 23rd (yes, this year, yes, in plenty of time for Christmas), which is tidings of great joy, to be sure, but also—

You can pre-order the book now, should you want to!

Check out the announcement in an exclusive Entertainment Weekly’s aritcle:

https://ew.com/books/outlander-go-tell-the-bees-that-i-am-gone-release-date-cover-reveal/

And YES, of course there is a link for ordering information for our U.K. readers:

(No, I don’t have pub dates yet for the non-English editions; those will be set by the individual publishers in each country.)

  1. YAY! Great news we finally have a release date! Question, will there also be an audible book released at the same time?

    Thanks,
    Vanessa

    • Audible books are released by different publishers than the hardcover and paperback versions. When known, those dates are added.

  2. OK, so I’m a bit slow, but I’ve just discovered the publication date and immediately pre-ordered. Jamie and Clare have been part of my life for over 23 years now (I was reading Dragonfly in Amber when I gave birth to my youngest son – as was my midwife) so I can’t wait to read the next chapter in their lives. Thank you Diana, your books are very special to me.

  3. I am so excited! Is there a release date for the unabridged recording? Is Davina Porter reading?

  4. I am so amazed at all you have accomplished!!! That being said a book about Master Raymond sounds so intriguing. If there is a catalyst in your world, I believe he is it. Sometimes i put myself to sleep imagining scenarios abotu his back story. Thank you again for your work, it is very much appreciated.<3

  5. Thank you for bringing such wonderful characters, a wonderful world, to light. I convinced my husband that I needed the entire set of the Outlander books, the major volumes that are currently out. So far, I’ve made it to “A Breath of Snow and Ashes,” with reading. It’s been a long time since a book has drawn me in. For that, I am immensely grateful.
Looking forward to ordering book 9, as well. Your words are a priceless gift, thank you.

  6. Dear Ms. Gabaldon,

Congratulations on your oeuvre; I love it all and admire your painstaking research and historical depth and scope. I am a food, wine, travel, fly-fishing and hunting writer and even your fly-fishing scenes with Jamie and his grandson are close to spot on. I am writing to ask a favor: my mother, Mary Meek Semler, presently in her 100th year, is waiting breathlessly for “Tell the Bees…” which I gave her for Christmas two and half years ago, thinking it was imminent. She is currently in hospice care and may not make it until the November publication date. If there is an advance copy of any sort, or a damaged reject or anything at all, I would love to get it into my mother’s hands before it’s too late. If you get this and have any interest in fly-fishing in Maine or Catalonia, please let me know.
    all best,
    George Semler

  7. Thank you very much, Diana, for this wonderful universe that you have created

  8. i was wondering when the audio book will be available for the new book? i’m totally hooked! master storytelling

    thank you

    • The release date for audio versions of any of Diana’s books is announced by the company that makes that version in each country or publishing area, which is different from the book publishers, who handle the print and digital versions. So far, haven’t been given a date for the audio release of BEES in the U.S.A. to post on Diana’s website.

  9. Jag längtar till den nya boken!!!!!!

Translation to English (via Google Translate):

I long for the new book !!!!!!

  11. Never ever have i read books with more than 200 pages.. but outlander.. no problem what so ever! from page 1 to 1000… breathtaking! Cant wait for the Dutch release of book 9.

  12. Really looking forward to the release of Bees!
Really sad that Audible have cancelled the release of the audio book indefinitely. Got the email today.
Is the audio being released by someone else?
Due to disability, I can not cope with reading a book, especially this big, but I use audio all the time.
Really hope there is an alternative.

    • Hi, Annette,

Audible has not “cancelled the release of the audio book format of BEES indefinitely” that I know of. A release date for the audible version has not been announced yet because they are still working on it. Audible and other companies like it want to make bestsellers available as soon as they can after the hardcover release date of a new novel is announced.

Audio formats of all books typically lag behind the published book version because the actors have to have the final version of the book available to be able to read and record it. Then reading and editing and producing an audio product with 27 hours of recordings obviously takes time. Plus the audio company has to work that product into their production and manufacturing schedules. It is a complex process to record a book as well as to print it as a book.

I see that you are likely in the U.K., according to your email address. The release dates in your area might be different than in the United States. International editions of Diana’s books in any form are produced by companies from the publishers in that specific area, which may have different release dates, as well. The audio version (or print version) for where you live on the planet will be produced and distributed according to which company obtained the international copyright permission.

So hang on. A release date will be announced as soon as it is known.

      Thanks,

  13. Hi Diana,
Merci

    Hi Diana,
Thanks for continuing to tell us the story of the MacKenzie, Randall and Fraser saga. This saga is very interesting in various titles: history, characters, etc… I look forward to following the book 9 in French. When do you think it will be published and distributed in France? Thank you

    • Hi,

Sorry, but so far I do not have a release date for the edition to be published in French. That will be up to the publisher in your country or publishing area who is granted the rights to translate BEES. It takes time for language experts to translate books written in English into other languages.

  14. How long before we can expect it in Australia?

    Translation (via Google translate):

Good evening, beautiful date 11-23-21, I will have to wait a little longer for the release in Spanish, since my English is not good enough to cope with this reading. It’s been a few months since I finished the previous one and it is well worth exercising patience.

It is difficult to explain the gratitude for creating these enjoyable stories and although it sounds strange I am very happy to write to a beloved author, the vast majority of my beloved authors passed away centuries ago.

Personally, I read a lot since my adolescence but after the birth of my first daughter I had abandoned the habit, until Outlander crossed my life and dazzled me, I reached more than one dawn in that world, since at night is when I have time to read.

The void that was left when I finished reading all the stories in the saga and those related to it was complex to handle, luckily W. Scott helped me and so far many others.

I send you a hug from Uruguay, that you are very well and go ahead with that tenth part!

  16. Is it a total coincidence that the articulator of the concept of time travel (Outlander) lives in the same state as is auditing the 2020 election?

Note I do not have a clue about Diana’s politics. This was just a whimsical notion.

  17. For those of you who are looking forward to Davina Porter reading this book. I was just on Audible.com and the release date is the same, that is 11/23/2021. I pre-ordered and now have to time when I can start the series from the beginning so that I will be ready for the release of the new book.

  18. I pre ordered BEES from Amazon and received it yesterday! I am sooo busy! I usually stay up all night reading for a few days, but I am savoring this one! Thanks Diana!
